Peer pressure is part of life.
When our kids face it, we tell them to ignore it, move on, and think for themselves, because, down deep, they know how to make the right choices.
In the college process, parents face tough peer pressure. When other parents speak with authority, we become vulnerable and worry that our inexperience and inaction must be shortchanging our kids. This time, we’re the ones who need to tune out the gossip, disengage, and avoid situations and people if necessary. “Advice” from other parents is not going to be the charm for getting your kids into college: common sense and calm, professional support is.
